Disney Day 2 - Animal Kingdom

So, we watched this program at the condo that highlighted each Disney park and its "must-dos."  The kids were immediately drawn to a 3D bug flick at Animal Kingdom.  Sounds cool...maybe even a little educational, right?!  Wrong!  What had them so intrigued was that a stink bug wiggled and passed gas...in 3D!!!  To make matters worse, Disney had a HUGE billboard featuring the "adorable" stink bug and his real gas.  Keep in mind we passed this billboard every day on our way in and out of the parks. Oh, dear...

Seth had never been to Animal Kingdom, and I visited right before the park was complete.  I just remembered how hot it was.  We were completely prepared to stay for the day (rather than heading back for naps) thinking that we could see and do everything in a few hours.  Wow, things had changed.  The park added lots of trees (which make for great shade) and attractions.  One of the biggest changes was the addition of a roller coaster set in Mt. Everest.  Knowing that this would be a busy ride, I headed there first while Seth took the kids to meet the character Flik and to ride the Tricerotop spin.  I met up with them there after my ride with the Yeti, and we headed to the Bug's Life 3D flick.  Neither child enjoyed it quite like they thought they would...Liam was even a little scared, but Seth and I thought it was pretty cool.  What they did enjoy was meeting characters such as Pocohantas, Thumper, Miss Bunny, Briar Rabbit, Donald, and Goofy.  Some of my favorite things about the park were the shows.  We watched a Finding Nemo musical where the fish were puppets held by people...sounds cheesy, but was visually amazing.  I also really enjoyed the Lion King performance.  Liam clapped, danced, and sang during the entire show.  I love to see him truly enjoy something.  He gets SO excited.  The kids really liked seeing all of the live animals in the zoos and on the safari ride.  All in all, we REALLY enjoyed the park.  My impressions of it have certainly changed for the better.
Getting geared up for a big day.

All smiles!

Mt. Everest...the roller coaster actually went through this mountain.

Liam and I spent a great deal of time watching these monkeys while Seth and Makayla rode the Kali River Rapids.

SOAKED after their ride!

Liam just couldn't make it any longer.

Next post, Magic Kingdom Round 2.
