Man at Work

This is a picture of my sweet husband this evening as he works away in the craft room. I realized I had not taken a before picture, so this will have to do. I am just so excited about having a room all to myself just to work on scrapbooks and other projects...funny how it's right next to the MAN CAVE. I'm also in awe that he is working so hard to make this a place of refuge for me. As with everything he does, he does it wholeheartedly and without complaining. I could learn a thing or two from him. He is pretty confident that he'll be finished by Oct. 22nd...less than a month away. I am so thankful for a phenomenal husband and an even more amazing father. Lucky us! :)

Fabulous Friend

I have been blessed with many fabulous friends. How dreary life would be without friendship. This evening I got to spend time with my dear friend Beth. She is a glowing mother-to-be of identical twin boys. What a beautiful picture of prenancy! Mmm...ice cream...is that two bowls I see? Gotta keep the pregnant woman happy.

Fun with fondant!

I know I promised to be a little better with this whole blog thing, but I just haven't had anything "blog worthy" lately. I'm enjoying school and my new group of students. I have an amazing parent volunteer that helps out all day on Fridays. I also enjoy working with my new teammate, Diane. Makayla loves her sitter "Te Te." She is now RUNNING and saying so many new words. It's so fun to hear her mimic...watch out four-letter-words! Seth is enjoying football, and watches as much as possible. In between football games, he has been working on my craft room. His goal is to be finished toward the end of October. I'm not allowed to look at it anymore until then. It will be a wonderful surprise. Anyone up for scrapbooking in November??? :)

I continue to take cake decorating classes. I find it to be very therapeutic after hanging out with six-year-olds all day. I tried my hand at fondant icing tonight. Here's a picture of my first go at it. I'm not a big fan of the taste of the icing, but it sure looks pretty.

Turning Thirty

I am not sure what my fear is...lately I have really been dreading turning 30. We went to Richmond Saturday for my dear friend Erica's 30th birthday party. I am just in awe of how young she looks and acts. I have seen several of my friends turn 30, and they have done so with such grace. I guess my biggest fear is just having someone call me old...Seth does almost daily (since I am six months older than him), but hearing it from someone else would kill me. Teaching first grade keeps me young at heart, but does not keep the wrinkles from coming. I guess another huge fear of mine is leaving my twenties. I have enjoyed them so. Any advice as I am soon to become a "Thirty Something?" I, too, want to accept and embrace it gracefully!

Fantastic Voyage

Makayla took her first ride in her new carseat today...yes, we were late on that too! What is it about parenthood that makes life so blissful, yet so busy? She had so much fun on the way to the sitter this morning. She liked facing forward. She REALLY enjoyed watching me blow the horn as we (mostly me) sang The Wheels on the Bus. I am the dorkiest of dorks, but I sure enjoy it! I just love how she has her legs crossed just chillin'! She actually looks small in this new jumbo seat! So sweet. :)

First Day of School

I love school supplies! Sharpened pencils, clean pink erasers, and the smell of new crayons! It's always refreshing to start the year off with a new group of smiling faces. I had two students in tears this morning...no, it wasn't something I did. They were just having a hard time getting back into the routine. I must say, I felt their pain. After spending the entire summer with precious Makayla, working a full day was a bit of a shock for me as well. I'm very tired and hope to get to bed early tonight...only after I watch The Hills at 10:00. Seth makes fun of me for watching such trash, but it sure is mindless entertainment!

Celebrations and Sunny Smiles

The family got together yesterday to celebrate Matthew's first birthday. Makayla enjoyed being a spectator, but still did not enjoy getting icing on her hands. Doesn't Matthew look like the Joker? :)



As the days are getting shorter, we try to spend as much time in the evenings enjoying the sunshine before bedtime. Makayla loves to play outside...especially with Foster.
