Sticky Situation

After dinner, things were a little quiet in the kitchen. This should have concerned me, but for some reason it didn't. Live and learn!!! I sat down for a few minutes before getting Makayla ready for bath time. Not long after I sat down, Makayla came to me very concerned about her "sticky" hands. She approached me with a stick of Crisco...and THIS is what I saw!

I couldn't help but laugh, and ran to get the camera! I love my silly little chef!

Let's GO...HOKIES!

Seth, Makayla, and I headed to Blacksburg for the day. We wanted to take Makayla to her first football game. It was the spring game, which is an intrasquad scrimmage. She was all about her Elmo Virginia Tech shirt and cheering on the Hokies. She enjoyed tailgating (she was EATING, of course she enjoyed it!) and spending time outside in the beautiful weather.

A few pics from the day...

Just a cute one of Makayla...

Just the girls!

Today Makayla was the only child at the sitter's. She had TT all to herself...and what a special day it was. They got an early start and went shopping. Now, as you can imagine, any daughter of mine would love to shop, and Makayla most certainly does. They also went to Chick-fil-a for lunch...another favorite of Makayla's. They made it home just in time for nap and spent the afternoon planting flowers.

As Makayla and I were walking to the car to go home she said, "Makayla fun at TT's house." I am so glad! We are so fortunate to have such an amazing sitter. I love that she made such a fuss over Makayla and made a point to have special girl time with her today. Makayla even asked to go back to TT's.

I am often torn about being a working mom and if I am best meeting Makayla's needs, but it sure is comforting to know what good hands she is in when I am unable to be there for her. Thanks TT!

Easter Bonnets and Party Hats

Makayla is feeling perky and almost 100%...get rid of her cough, and she will be! It was fun to pull out her Easter duds this weekend...including her Easter bonnet (which she didn't want to take off!). She looked like such a little girl. Where's my baby??? The celebration would not have been complete without an egg hunt with her cousins followed by some birthday cake for her daddy...he's on the countdown to the big 3-0...three more days!!! Yesterday was a fun, fun day!

Monkeying Around

Seth, Makayla, and I headed to the zoo on Friday. We had it planned for months, but couldn't have lucked out more with the beautiful weather. We took a pit stop in Winchester to visit the children's museum, and to break for lunch. We got to the zoo around 3:00. We were able to see many of the animals that Makayla had hoped to see, but missed a few as they retired for the evening at 4:00, and part of the zoo was under renovation. She was just a ball of enthusiasm...full of giggles, squeals, and animal noises. My favorite part was watching her.

We stayed the night in downtown Alexandria and did some shopping this morning before heading home. What a perfect little get-a-way!

And we're off...unfortunately Foster was off to the kennel

A Different Easter

As you are probably well aware, I live for holidays and celebrations with family and friends. At Easter, it is such a special time to remember that our Savior is Risen. This was a different Easter for us, as Makayla was very sick with strep throat. She started with a fever on Thursday and then the sore throat set in late Friday night. We took her to the doctor's Saturday morning. She has been a trooper through the healing process, but it has been so hard watching her suffer. She is having a difficult time taking her medicine and she continues to run a fever yet today. Poor, sweet child!

We had to forego celebrations with family to cuddle at home instead. We did not attend church...the first time I think I've ever missed church on Easter Sunday...but got some much needed rest. We were able to see the Easter bunny on Friday, and Mimi brought eggs over for us to color on Saturday.

A few pics from our holiday:
Not sure what to think of the Easter bunny!
