Grand Finale

In anticipation of Makayla's first birthday, I started taking cake decorating classes. I enjoyed it so much that I continued well past the "big day." I just finished course 2 this evening. This is my grand finale cake. Seth and I just enjoyed a piece a la mode. Delish!

Final crib shot

Each month since Makayla was born, we have taken a picture of her in her crib with her teddy bear. We wanted to document her growth in comparison to the bear. We took her last picture today (yes, I realize we are two weeks late!). I can't believe how much she has grown and changed.

Makayla one month old

Oh, I could just eat her up. Look how precious and sweet, how tiny and DARK haired!

Makayla twelve months (and two weeks!) old

What a beautiful, BLONDE baby. It's so cute to see her hug and kiss the bear that was once BIGGER than her. She is a sweetie! Note the gnaw marks on her crib...she's is evidently part rodent as well. Oh, what sharp teeth she has.

Those summer nights

Well, I know that summer is coming to a close as I go back to work tomorrow. I love to savor each moment of the season. Last evening was just beautiful. It was the perfect evening to spend some time out on the back deck. When I looked to the west, I could see the sun setting over the mountains.

As I looked to the east, I could see the moon. It was all so peaceful. I'm going to miss these summer nights!

Family afFAIR

Seth and I took Makayla to her first county fair today. She seemed to enjoy herself. We saw an elephant show, a circus, and some livestock. Makayla loved to hear the cows "moo," and even gave it her best shot.

It wouldn't be the fair without all of the greasy goodies. Makayla sampled some popcorn, pork BBQ, and a donut. Believe it or not, I think this was the highlight of her evening. Oh, my! She is her mother's daughter!!!

Round 1

Well, I'm going to try my hand at this blog thing. I'm behind on my scrapbooking, I had trouble keeping up with a website...am I really going to keep up with a blog? Let's hope so. I love to talk and share pictures, so this SEEMS ideal!

We celebrated Makayla's first birthday this past weekend. It's so hard to believe a year has passed. On one hand, I've forgotten what life was like without her. On the other hand, it's bittersweet to see her grow and change so quickly.

Here are a few photos from her special day. Enjoy!
