Tea-lightful!

In sticking with the princess theme, mom and I took Makayla to Mrs. Hardesty's tea room for "Princess Tea" on her birthday. We got dressed up (Makayla and mom even wore hats!) and headed downtown. Makayla was so excited to go that she did not take a nap. She was so tired by the time we got there, she was ready to go home. She gulped down her pink lemonade and nibbled on a few snacks before she was wiggling all over the place. She spit out her brownie, kept dropping things on the floor, passed gas, etc, etc. At a time where I really wanted her to be prim and proper, she had a hard time pulling through for me. The only thing we could do was laugh...without Makayla noticing, of course! Mom and I did enjoy our tea...orange spice and caramel. We are looking forward to going back at Christmas time...guess I should work on some more etiquette until then! :)

Going Camping!

Last weekend, my parents invited Liam, Makayla, Matthew, and myself to go camping. Because the children had never gone camping before, we camped in the field at my grandmother's house, and we stayed in a camper. I set up a tent for the children to play in, fairly certain it wouldn't be used to sleep in. We had lots of food, lots of laughs, and lots of fun! First camping trip was a success!

A Princess Turns Three

It amazes me that Makayla is three years old already! She brings such joy to our lives. She is sweet, but silly, fun, yet sometimes serious. She is beautiful both inside and out. I am so thrilled to call myself her mother.

Makayla has decided lately that pink and purple are her favorite colors. She has also recently become enamored with the Disney princesses. She is often found playing dress up or playing dramatically with her princess figurines. This year's cake request included a castle, a Cinderella cake, and a Belle cake. Tall order for a two, soon to be three year old, don't you think?! Well, I'm not one to back down from a request, or in this case, a challenge. So...to cover all of my bases, I made a pink and purple castle cake topped with Disney princess figurines, as well as Cinderella, Belle, Ariel, and Sleeping Beauty cakes (Ok, so by the time I got to the doll cakes, I was really tired and they look nothing like the princesses, but in Makayla's eyes, they were just what she wanted!)
