Ahh...summer!

Well, we're back at it...living the summer life. I love days without a schedule, yet days that are filled with swimming, laughing, play dates, outings, and soaking up every ounce of summer possible.

   We started our week with a visit with some friends to a local farm and greenhouse.  We spent a great deal of time making friends with the butterflies.  Makayla enjoyed this adventure (as always...she's been going for 3 years now), but Liam was more interested in the caterpillars.  We also took some time to ride the carousel, a cow train, some tricycles, and a slide.  We visited the animals, played in the sandbox, and played on the swings.

Anyone remember this oldie, but goodie?  Could this be the cause of his underlying fear of butterflies?

   Friday we headed north to join some friends at a local blueberry farm.  I had never been blueberry picking before, so I was so excited to do so.  It was a perfect morning.  The sun was shining bright, but it was not overwhelmingly hot.  The kids picked, ate, and entertained one another by shooting each other with water bottles.  

   This morning, Makayla wanted blueberry muffins, Seth wanted blueberry pancakes, and I wanted blueberry smoothies...so...we had all three!   I couldn't resist, and the fresh blueberries were plump, sweet, and simply amazing!  I have several recipes yet to try, and can't wait to do so!

   I love summer, and live for moments like this with my precious kiddos and dear friends.  Next on the agenda...peach picking maybe?!

   I think the plan for tomorrow is to finally break the news to the kiddos about our trip to Disney!  July 17 will be here before we know it!  I can't wait to see their reaction...just may be a post of its own! :)
