Well, here I sit in a quiet house while my sick little Liam is napping. I wasn't planning on being home this afternoon...especially during SOL testing, but here I am nonetheless. I wouldn't trade my role as mommy for anything in the world. I just hope he feels better soon! A few pics of my cuties...
So, I guess here's an opportunity to catch up on a few things. One of the biggest pieces of news is that...I'm moving. Not states, not even houses, but SCHOOLS! I have taken a job as a reading specialist at a school in the county we live in. I will be sad to leave my current school. I have made many dear friends, and have learned a lot on this journey. I've been there eleven years, but I believe it is time for change. Part of me is really sad to be leaving the classroom, but my passion is teaching reading. Makayla will start school in another year, and I really want to be on the same school schedule. The next decision we have to make is what school she will be attending...I guess we've got a year for that!
The kids continue to grow and change...imagine that?! :) I can't believe Liam will be two in a few weeks. Time just passes too quickly. We are planning a Mickey Mouse themed birthday party, with a Tinkerbell party to follow in few months for Makayla. I can't believe Disney will be right smack-dab in the middle of all of the celebrations. Wow! I need to get organized!
Our state testing has consumed me over the past month. It has been a very stressful time...one that I am glad will soon be over. I hate the pressure that is placed on everyone. I am looking forward to the last couple weeks of school when I can simply TEACH! I'm also looking forward to the less stressed version of myself!
We have plans to swim tomorrow! I can't wait. I hope Liam is feeling better so he is able to join us. Both of the children love water! We've cranked up the heater and are looking forward to relaxing together. Who knows, maybe we'll even roast marshmallows!
School was canceled this past Wednesday due to flooding in the county. I spent the day playing non-stop with the kiddos. We played inside, baked cookies, went to story hour at the library, went to the children's museum, met a dear friend Lydia and her daughter for lunch, followed by our annual trip to pick strawberries. We made strawberry banana smoothies to drink with dinner and had lots of strawberries as a side. We have been eating strawberries each day. I froze some, and plan on making a strawberry dessert pizza. I did not make freezer jam this year...might have to pick more strawberries for that! I love days like this!
As always, I'm loving life, and wishing it would slow down a little. Until then, I'll do what I can so savor each moment!
